$8.25 million will fund a class-action settlement for U.S. users who were under 13 and downloaded or used a Google Play app from April 1, 2015 onward.
The lawsuit alleged Google and AdMob collected, used and disclosed children's personal information through Google Play apps without parental consent, including for targeted advertising; the companies denied wrongdoing.
Sept. 14, 2026 is the deadline to file a claim, while parents or legal guardians must submit claims for anyone still under 18 as of May 2026.
At least $750,000 is earmarked for administration and up to $2.475 million for attorneys' fees, with remaining net funds paid to approved claimants on a pro rata basis.
Sept. 24, 2026 is the final approval hearing, and payments will go out only after court approval and any appeals are resolved.
