ULA Faces 30% Favorable Weather Odds for 29 Amazon Leo Satellites Launch

Friday’s Amazon Leo 7 mission is set to lift 29 satellites from Cape Canaveral, but the 45th Weather Squadron gives only a 30% chance of acceptable launch conditions.
Cumulus clouds, anvil clouds and surface electric fields are the main constraints during the 7:33 p.m. to 8:02 p.m. ET launch window for ULA’s Atlas V 551 rocket.
The flight would add to Amazon’s low-Earth-orbit broadband network, which had 302 Leo satellites in orbit before launch and is planned to exceed 3,000 spacecraft.
Atlas V’s first-stage booster will not attempt a landing like SpaceX’s Falcon 9, instead separating and falling into the Atlantic for recovery.
