MLB Suspends Abner Uribe 1 Game for Dugout Gesture, as Brewers Reliever Appeals

One game will sideline Brewers reliever Abner Uribe for an eighth-inning incident Tuesday, though the penalty is on hold while he appeals.
MLB cited “inappropriate actions” after Uribe made a crotch-chop gesture toward the Cardinals dugout following a called strike-three to Alec Burleson in Milwaukee’s 6-0 win.
Pat Murphy publicly rebuked the 25-year-old, calling the act “unacceptable” and saying he was embarrassed it happened in a lopsided game.
Uribe apologized to the Brewers but said tensions had already escalated after he buzzed Iván Herrera near the head and claimed Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol made signs suggesting Milwaukee hitters might be targeted.
St. Louis denied those allegations, and no Brewers batter had been hit through the series’ first two games; Jake Bauers was plunked Wednesday without further incident.
Is Abner Uribe's gesture a loyal defense of teammates or another example of an uncontrollable temper?
Does this suspension expose a deeper, unresolved conflict simmering between the Brewers and Cardinals?
