Wilson said at a Miami-area street dedication Friday that she will not run again this fall, ending a House career that began in 2010.
A monthlong voting absence after eye surgery and her desire to travel promoting the 5000 Role Models program helped drive the decision, though she said she is not retiring from public life.
The Florida Democrat told the Miami Herald she waited until new maps were set so her deep-blue 24th District would not become a redistricting target without her on the ballot.
Her exit makes her the 60th House member this cycle to retire or seek higher office, with candidates facing a June 12 filing deadline ahead of the Aug. 18 primary.
