Six bird species were recorded during several weeks of backyard testing, with TechCrunch calling the Kiwibit Bird Feeder Pro 4K AI Camera a standout smart feeder.
The app sends visit alerts, stores recordings and uses Kiwibit’s bird-ID algorithm to classify more than 10,000 species, while also flagging squirrels as nuisance animals.
A 4K camera, 130-degree wide-angle lens, solar panel, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, cloud storage and two-way audio were cited as key hardware strengths, alongside easy setup and cleaning.
The main flaw was visit counting: the AI can log one bird lingering at the feeder as multiple visits, even when it barely moves.
The review ultimately framed the device as a playful way to track backyard wildlife, despite frequent squirrel raids and occasional AI miscounts.
