Bethesda Adds Fallout 76 Infestations Across 40 Locations as Servers Cap 5 Concurrent Boss Events

June 2 brings Fallout 76's Infestations update, a new roaming activity that can overrun 40 outdoor locations with faction bosses and displaced enemy mobs across Appalachia.
Five Infestations can run at once on a server, with new ones spawning every 10 minutes; they are not pre-marked, and teammates can jump in once one player discovers an active site.
Level 50-200 players are the target range for the fights, which drop 4-Star Legendary rewards from a shared loot pool plus update-exclusive items such as mods boosting V.A.T.S. accuracy by up to 50% or damage by up to 120%.
Bethesda said the system is tuned to avoid clashing with public events at launch, currently stays on exterior map spaces, and will be adjusted after live-server data replaces Public Test Server feedback.
The studio framed Infestations as part of a broader effort to refresh Fallout 76's eight-year-old map with modular, repeatable activities that can expand to more factions and locations over time.
Are random 'Infestations' making Appalachia a truly dynamic world, or just a more predictably chaotic one for players?
Will Fallout 76's new 4-Star gear redefine the game's meta or just add another layer to the end-game grind?
