Atlanta police said Thursday they opened an investigation to determine whether the high-ranking officer cited in a court order is one of its employees.
An 11th Circuit judicial order described a two-year extramarital affair between a federal judge and a prominent law-enforcement officer, including sex in chambers during work hours and in the courthouse.
The order said the judge was privately reprimanded after clerks' complaints were corroborated by forensic evidence, security footage and other records; the officer was not named publicly.
