Telford College, Council Launch Hub to Help 300 Youth as UK Neets Risk Hitting 1.25 Million

More than 300 young people aged 16-24 are set to receive help into work, training or education in the hub’s first 12 months, targeting those who are NEET or on universal credit.
The Telford scheme is part of a new national programme and follows Alan Milburn’s review warning the UK’s NEET population could reach 1.25 million by the early 2030s without urgent action.
One-to-one coaching, accredited English, maths and digital training, work experience and six employer events — including job fairs and apprenticeship showcases — will form the core offer.
Jobcentre Plus coaches, mental health specialists and housing advisers will support the hub, which will operate from a town-centre base and use a mobile teaching unit to reach rural TF1 and TF7 areas.
