Brad Lynch said Valve's estimated starting price for the delayed Steam Machine was already above current Steam Deck levels, implying it could launch above the newly repriced $949 Steam Deck OLED 1TB.
Rising RAM and storage costs are driving that outlook after Valve unveiled the device in November and then pushed its planned early-2026 release back as component prices worsened.
Valve also raised Steam Deck OLED prices across regions when stock returned, fueling speculation the company is trying to offset costs, though Lynch said he doubts the increase is meant to keep the Steam Machine cheaper.
