  • John Mack, 38, of La Grange, Illinois, was arrested in Key West after police said he took a patrol car from an off-duty officer and drove it while intoxicated during Memorial Day weekend.
  • Surveillance video from Dante’s Key West Pool Bar & Restaurant allegedly showed Mack leaving with two friends just before 6:20 p.m., getting into the cruiser and driving off, nearly hitting two men.
  • Police found him nearby outside the Boat House Bar & Grill; they said he failed a field sobriety test, refused a breathalyzer and did not have a valid driver’s license, only an Illinois ID card.
  • Mack also allegedly resisted arrest and suffered cuts from a fence. He faces DUI, burglary, grand theft, grand theft of law enforcement equipment, reckless driving, refusal to submit to DUI testing and resisting arrest without violence.
