Adam Zagoria reported Wednesday that St. John’s has stopped recruiting Milan Momcilovic, the Iowa State forward who averaged 16.9 points and shot 48.7% from three last season.
The shift came hours after the Red Storm landed Baylor transfer Tounde Yessoufou, a 6-foot-5 guard who withdrew from the NBA draft and chose to return to college.
Yessoufou had been projected from the late first round to early second round, and St. John’s sees him as a fit alongside returnees Ian Jackson and Ruben Prey, plus Quinn Ellis and Donnie Freeman.
Momcilovic, who also exited the draft process, had drawn interest from Kentucky, Louisville and Arizona as St. John’s reshaped a roster aiming for a third straight Big East title.
