Campaign filings from mid-April to mid-May show Spencer Pratt raising nearly 10 times as much as incumbent Karen Bass ahead of next week's Los Angeles mayoral election.
Millions poured in after Pratt's debate performance, he said, with donations driven by frustration over homelessness, drug addiction and slow rebuilding after fires.
Pratt said many contributors are former Angelenos who left the city—more than 50,000 a year by his count—and current Democratic voters disillusioned with Bass.
The fundraising surge adds momentum to an insurgent campaign Pratt launched in January after the 2025 Palisades Fire destroyed his home, turning local anger into a nonpartisan challenge to Bass and Nithya Raman.
