Kaukauna School Board Fires Teacher Patrick Meyer in 6-1 Vote Over Trump Assassination Post

A 6-1 Kaukauna Area School District board vote fired social studies teacher Patrick Meyer after more than nine hours of discussion, mostly in closed session.
Meyer had posted on X last month that past presidential assassins would be "spinning in their graves" and mocked the failed attempt on President Donald Trump with "MAGAA."
The district said the post caused actual material disruption to school and district operations; Meyer had been placed on administrative leave on April 27 while the matter was reviewed.
Charles West cast the lone dissenting vote, saying parents' concerns were real but arguing the First Amendment should probably be supported.
The post followed the April 25 shooting at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, where authorities say Cole Tomas Allen opened fire while Trump was attending.
