ACC Art Books has published “Marilyn Monroe 100: The Official Centenary Book” with the Marilyn Monroe Estate to mark 100 years since Monroe’s birth.
The volume gathers 275 images spanning her Norma Jean years to her final Santa Monica beach shoot, with an introduction by Rachel Syme and a focus on Monroe’s collaborations with key photographers.
Sam Shaw’s decade-long friendship and creative partnership is a central thread, including Amagansett beach sessions and the famous skirt-blowing image from “The Seven Year Itch.”
Melissa Stevens, Shaw’s granddaughter and family-archive director, said the family later recovered Monroe-Shaw letters at auction and uncovered previously unseen photos after Shaw’s 1999 death.
The book frames those photographs as evidence of Monroe’s enduring complexity and her struggle to maintain personal freedom despite the limits of her era.
