Republican lawmakers urged the Treasury Department to press ahead with its probe of Hasan Piker after OFAC subpoenaed him over a March trip to Cuba sponsored by CodePink.
Treasury is seeking financial, logistical and communications records tied to the Cuba travel, while a Jewish advocacy group separately asked the Justice Department to investigate whether Piker should have registered under FARA.
Piker said on a Monday livestream that investigators are likely targeting Shanghai-based businessman Neville Roy Singham and the groups he finances, including CodePink, ANSWER Coalition and the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
$285 million in reported Singham funding to six left-wing organizations has become a focal point for Republicans, who argue the network supports messaging and activism aligned with Cuba's communist government.
Democratic support for Piker has been limited so far, with Rep. Delia Ramirez calling the subpoena a "Red Scare" tactic as the case broadens into a wider foreign-influence and sanctions debate.
