Dodge Confirms Copperhead SRT Won’t Use Charger Bones, Targets Combustion Launch by 2030

Tim Kuniskis said the Dodge Copperhead SRT is not built on the Charger’s hard points, reversing the impression left by a brief closed-room preview during Stellantis’ turnaround presentation.
Charger’s STLA Large architecture forces a raised floor to accommodate battery packaging across EV and gas variants, he said, making the Copperhead’s lower, production-intent proportions impossible without a different base.
Kuniskis also confirmed the halo car will use a combustion engine, but declined to name the platform or engine, saying Stellantis could deploy something new before the model arrives between now and 2030.
Stellantis is likely drawing from its global parts and platform portfolio rather than funding a bespoke SRT program, with Kuniskis saying the brand must leverage sunk investments to make low-volume performance cars pay.
