Hanwha Aerospace is set to sign an MOU with Canadian spaceport operator Maritime Launch Services, adding a space component to its push for Canada’s submarine program.
The offer is designed to strengthen Hanwha’s bid as Ottawa prepares to award a lucrative contract to build as many as 12 submarines.
Glenn Copeland, chief executive of Hanwha Defence Canada, disclosed the planned agreement, underscoring Hanwha’s effort to widen the industrial benefits tied to its proposal.
The move shows the submarine competition extending beyond naval hardware, with bidders seeking advantage through broader aerospace and domestic-partnership commitments.
