Mission Aviation Fellowship flew Dr. Peter Stafford’s wife and four children from Nyankunde in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Entebbe, Uganda after Stafford tested positive for Ebola.
Peter Stafford — a surgeon and burn specialist working for Christian medical missionary Serge — is fighting for his life after contracting the virus while serving at Nyankunde Hospital.
Rebekah Stafford, an obstetrician-gynecologist at the same hospital, was among those evacuated as exposure concerns rose around the family.
Stafford has worked at Nyankunde Hospital since 2023, placing the case at a mission hospital now caught up in Congo’s latest Ebola outbreak.
