525 pounds of suspected cocaine and 9.3 grams of suspected heroin were found in a vehicle on Interstate 80 in Nebraska, leading troopers to arrest 23-year-old Gurarppan Gill of Yuba City, California.
A Nebraska State Patrol trooper had stopped the vehicle Wednesday morning for following too closely behind a semi-truck, and K9 Gable then alerted officers to the odor of controlled substances.
Troopers searched the vehicle after the alert and booked Gill on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver.
Nebraska State Patrol publicly credited K9 Gable for the seizure, which adds to a string of recent K9-assisted drug busts reported by law enforcement agencies nationwide.
