Germany's chamber of commerce cut its 2026 growth forecast to 0.3% from 1% after a survey of about 23,000 companies showed recovery hopes fading.
One in four firms now rate their situation as poor, while just 23% call it good — a level DIHK said is as bleak as during the pandemic.
One third expect business to worsen over the next 12 months, up 8 percentage points from the start of the year, and only 13% still see the future optimistically.
A separate Ifo survey also showed weaker sentiment in Germany's export industry, reinforcing concerns that geopolitical uncertainty is hitting an already fragile economy.
