Aidan Major, 23, was still in the hospital awaiting scan results Tuesday night after a line drive hit him squarely in the head during the second at-bat of Hill City's Single-A game against Fayetteville.
The 2-0 pitch was driven straight back by Fayetteville's Xavier Neyens, leaving the Cleveland Guardians prospect no time to react before trainers and Lynchburg EMS reached the mound in under a minute.
Major was able to leave on a cart and gave a thumbs-up, and his father later said he was "doing well considering the scary event" and wanted to return to cheer on teammates.
The fifth-round pick in the 2024 draft had opened his first minor league season strongly, posting a 3.10 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 29 innings over eight appearances.
