Amazon MGM Studios and AWS launched a GenAI Creators Fund to finance filmmakers, digital creators and startups using Amazon AI tools to make cinematic entertainment.
Three animated series were unveiled as the fund’s first greenlit projects: Jorge Gutierrez’s “Punky Duck,” “Love, Diana Music Hunters” and BuzzFeed Studios’ “Cupcake & Friends.”
Projects will run through Amazon’s new Project Nara platform, which combines third-party generative AI models, an Amazon-trained tool and standard software such as Blender, Maya and Adobe Suite.
Amazon says the push can cut costs and speed production, especially in animation, even as many creatives remain wary of generative AI’s ethical and job implications.
The move extends a broader industry race to embed AI in entertainment workflows, with Netflix and YouTube also rolling out creator-facing AI production tools this year.
