CD Projekt Red said The Witcher 3’s new expansion will no longer support older platforms including Xbox One, extending a broader overhaul of the 11-year-old game’s technical baseline.
New minimum PC specs now require a Ryzen 5 2600 or Core i5-8400, GTX 1660 or RX 5500 XT, 12GB RAM, 70GB SSD and Windows 11.
The studio said the changes are needed to keep The Witcher 3 and Songs of the Past running smoothly and compatible as hardware and software standards evolve.
Windows 11 now accounts for 67.74% of Steam users versus 25.63% for Windows 10, giving CD Projekt Red a larger installed base for the stricter requirements.
Songs of the Past is due in 2027 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC, underscoring the shift away from last-generation hardware.
