A single Google search URL — https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&udm=14 — can route queries to the Web tab and keep AI-generated results out of searches.
In Chrome and Firefox, users can add that URL as a custom search engine, assign a shortcut such as “aig,” then trigger AI-free searches from the address bar.
Safari needs an extra step: users must first install the Customize Search Engine extension from Apple’s App Store before replacing the default Google address.
The workaround is pitched as a way to avoid AI because of its power and water demands and because AI answers in search can still be inaccurate.
