An ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll of 1,267 U.S. adults found the only double-digit top complaint about Republicans was loyalty to Donald Trump at 12%, while Democrats’ biggest hit was being too weak to confront Trump at 10%.
Open-ended responses showed Democrats also drew 12% combined criticism for being too liberal or “too woke,” but every other broad complaint about either party came in at 7% or lower.
Among partisans, 25% of Democrats said Republicans were too loyal to Trump, while 24% of Democrats said their own party does not stand up to Trump or for what is right.
Independents echoed that split: 10% named Republicans’ Trump loyalty as their top complaint, and 9% said Democrats fail to stand up to Trump, underscoring how Trump still defines both parties’ vulnerabilities.
