A 90-second teaser for a six-minute Prada Mode film triggered a wave of criticism on X, with Hideo Kojima fans condemning his role in what the project describes as AI-assisted work.
Nicolas Winding Refn said the short, made with Prada, was an “artistic experiment” and a “playful exploration of new creative possibilities through AI technology,” language that fueled much of the backlash.
The teaser shows Kojima and Refn as retro-styled space travelers before arriving in New York, where Prada Mode is scheduled to run June 3-7 at the Chelsea Hotel.
Kojima has not broadly endorsed AI-generated visuals in his own work; in a December 2025 CNN interview, he said he was more interested in AI for game control systems and adaptive enemy behavior.
