Jay Shetty will move the video version of On Purpose exclusively to Spotify and Netflix on July 13 under a multiyear deal worth up to $100 million, according to people familiar with the arrangement.
Spotify and Netflix confirmed the pact, which gives both companies a high-profile creator as they push to chip away at YouTube’s dominance in video podcasts.
Spotify will handle ad sales for the show, while older episodes and promotional clips will remain on YouTube and other platforms rather than disappearing entirely.
The agreement puts Shetty in a top pay tier alongside podcast stars such as Joe Rogan and Alex Cooper after seven years building an audience with guests including Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama and Tom Hanks.
