KB5089573 is now available as an optional Windows 11 update, marking the first release under Microsoft’s Windows K2 effort to speed up the OS and improve reliability.
Up to 70% faster system flyouts and 40% quicker app launches come from a new Low Latency Profile that briefly boosts CPU frequency to make Start, Search and other shell actions feel more responsive.
Microsoft said the performance gains will arrive gradually over the coming weeks even after installation, while the update also targets sign-in, lock screen, File Explorer, touch gesture and theme-change reliability.
New features in the release include sharing Bluetooth with two devices at once, naming a device during setup and Task Manager updates, and users must install it manually through Optional updates unless early-update settings are enabled.
