Sebastián Negrón and about a dozen Puerto Rico officials resigned Tuesday, abruptly shaking the administration’s economic policy team.
Negrón, the Economic Development and Commerce secretary, said he and Governor Jenniffer González “no longer trust” each other and that it had become impossible for him to stay.
The departures complicate key government initiatives aimed at attracting manufacturing investment and wealthy mainland US residents to the territory.
The resignations create fresh uncertainty around Puerto Rico’s economic development agenda under González’s government.
