  • Apple now accepts Wallet Digital ID—created from a U.S. passport—as proof a user is an adult when setting up Apple Accounts or accessing some Apple services.
  • Apple’s support document says the check may appear when creating a new account, updating device software, changing certain safety settings, or downloading and buying 18+ apps.
  • The move extends a feature Apple introduced last fall in iOS 26, after launching Digital ID first for TSA screening at more than 250 U.S. airports.
  • Apple is positioning the passport-based ID as a more private option than sharing other forms of identification, as age-verification rules gain traction in the U.S. and abroad.
