Neal McDonough said Luke Perry gave him the keys to a vacant Hancock Park house after the actor lost his home during a stretch of career and financial turmoil.
McDonough, 60, said the crisis followed his reported firing three days into ABC's "Scoundrels" after he refused to kiss a costar or perform sex scenes, a stance he says led to years of being shunned.
From 2010 to 2011, his screen work thinned to voice roles and minor parts before a recurring role on "Justified" helped restart his career in early 2012.
Perry, who died in 2019 at 52, is credited by McDonough alongside wife Ruvé for helping him through the period; the couple now produce films together, including "The Last Rodeo" and the upcoming "Jimmy."
