San Antonio and surrounding areas went under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch and Flood Watch as storms developed Tuesday, with forecasters warning of large hail, damaging winds and rapid flooding into Wednesday morning.
Rain totals of 1 to 3 inches, with pockets up to 5 inches, are expected along the I-35 corridor, Hill Country and southern Edwards Plateau, where recent rainfall has already primed rivers, creeks and low-lying areas for flooding.
Storm chances are expected to climb Tuesday evening and peak overnight into Wednesday morning, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms, some of them strong and locally heavy.
Wednesday should stay unsettled with a 50% rain chance and highs of 81 to 85, while conditions are forecast to ease by Thursday with only isolated showers or thunderstorms possible.
