May 27 marks the release of 007 First Light on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version still in development.
IO Interactive casts Bond as a 20-something recruit whose path to 007 begins after an Iceland hostage crisis and expands into a hunt for a rogue 009 operative.
Martin Emborg said the studio aimed for a character study rather than Bond surface traits, drawing heavily from Ian Fleming’s novels to find the character’s “original DNA.”
Patrick Gibson voices the young Bond, joined by Priyanga Burford, Lennie James, Gemma Chan and Lenny Kravitz, as IO pushes a film-style production with actors, writing and cinematics.
The game is IO’s first Bond title and arrives about 14 years after the last James Bond game, reviving the franchise in a more cinematic, origin-focused format.
