British Man Ryan Pepper Alleges 7 Months of Torture in Dubai Custody

Ryan Pepper, 27, has been held in Dubai since Nov. 3 without explanation, meaningful legal access or private family contact, rights group Detained in Dubai said.
Handwritten notes smuggled from custody alleged beatings, threats and psychological abuse, while the group said Pepper was hospitalized with injuries believed linked to assaults in detention.
About 20 days of isolation were also reported by his family, which said it fears he could die in custody.
The UK Foreign Office said it is supporting the British man, remains in contact with his family and is raising the torture and mistreatment allegations with UAE authorities.
