Isai "N," a nephew of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman wanted by U.S. authorities, was arrested in Sonora in a Mexican security operation announced Tuesday.
687 kilos of cocaine, 151 guns and 18 grenades were seized at a separate site, with Security Minister Omar Garcia Harfuch saying the actions targeted priority suspects and criminal groups' operational capacity.
The arrest adds to pressure on El Chapo's network as factions linked to his associates battle rivals tied to cartel co-founder Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, who is also awaiting trial in the United States.
Last month, Mexican soldiers backed by U.S. intelligence captured three of El Chapo's sons, while his brother Aureliano Guzman Loera, known as "El Guano," remains wanted.
