  • 13.5% IT employment growth between 2021 and 2025 outpaced the 10.4% rise across all U.S. jobs, but gains were concentrated in five roles including IT managers, software developers and information security analysts.
  • 6 of 13 tracked IT occupations posted median pay increases above 19.4% inflation, while the seven that lagged still paid more than $100,000 in 2025, suggesting slower raises at the top end.
  • $50,980 was the median wage across all occupations in 2025; even entry-level computer user support specialists earned about 1.2 times that, while IT managers made 3.5 times the national median.
  • Sharp declines hit computer programmers, database administrators, web developers and network support specialists, even as adjacent senior roles such as software developers, database architects and network architects expanded.
  • Information security analysts and web and digital interface designers emerged as the clearest winners from 2021 to 2025, combining faster-than-inflation pay growth with stronger-than-average hiring.
