Sunday evening, an Alcatraz City Cruises vessel struck San Francisco's Pier 31 while docking, with passengers saying the ferry hit multiple times and shattered several windows.
Video and rider accounts said the impact shook the boat hard enough to knock people off their feet; one woman fell down a staircase and several passengers feared the ferry might sink.
About 20 minutes later, passengers were told to disembark, and some said crew members gave little immediate explanation even as they appeared panicked.
0 injuries had been reported, and the operator said it is investigating the cause and will announce any service disruptions later.
