Samsung is preparing a Bluetooth-only Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 without cellular connectivity, marking the first time the Ultra line is expected to get a non-LTE variant.
GalaxyClub reported evidence of the model for the Netherlands and likely the wider EU, with Samsung seen using the missing modem to create a cheaper version.
Cost pressure appears to be the driver: rising RAM and storage prices have already pushed up Samsung phone prices, and the watch line may now be getting a lower-cost option.
The current Watch Ultra ships with 2GB of RAM and originally 32GB of storage, later refreshed to 64GB; it remains unclear whether the Ultra 2 will keep similar memory capacities.
The move would also undercut expectations of broader 5G adoption in wearables, even as earlier reports pointed to a new Snapdragon Wear Elite chip and Apple remains the only major smartwatch brand offering 5G.
