A 70mph pitch struck a player in a Nebraska dugout during a Kansas City USSSA 11U tournament game, according to allegations posted by Nebraska coach Brandon Magni after Sunday’s incident.
Magni said Oklahoma Eleven coach Mychal Ryals first told his pitcher to throw at batter Easton’s head, then redirected him to the dugout after the batter alerted the umpire; the order itself remains unverified.
The ball entering the dugout is not disputed, but Magni said only the pitcher was ejected, while the coach stayed in the dugout and was not removed from the complex.
Magni said he sought a forfeit and was told his team could either forfeit itself or call police, turning the episode into the latest flashpoint in a Memorial Day weekend youth baseball controversy.
