8PM to 2AM marks San Antonio’s highest storm window, with heavy rain expected to peak around midnight and the main threats shifting to street flooding and damaging wind gusts.
Storms are forecast to ignite along the Rio Grande as early as 4PM, and cells developing west of the city before 7PM could turn severe with large hail or even a tornado.
By late evening, the storms are expected to organize into a line moving east, raising the risk of a few power outages, snapped branches and disruptions to outdoor events including Spurs watch parties.
Showers and thunderstorms could linger through sunrise Wednesday, potentially closing low-water crossings and affecting the morning commute, while any additional Wednesday storms depend on how much the atmosphere stabilizes overnight.
After this round, the next better rain chance is late Saturday night into Sunday, when rain chances currently stand at 40%.
