Eighty-six per cent of Canada’s federal workforce has “high exposure” to AI, meaning a significant share of tasks could be assisted or automated, according to a Dais report.
Provincial and territorial governments show a similar pattern at 83%, far above the 56% high-exposure rate across the overall Canadian workforce.
The report says AI, if used properly, could sharply lift government productivity and efficiency, potentially delivering benefits to taxpayers.
The findings, published by Toronto Metropolitan University’s Dais think tank last year and highlighted again Monday, suggest public-sector jobs may be more exposed to AI-driven change than the broader labor market.
