Jaelen Dinkens, 29, and Mohammed Amolegbe, 21, were charged with burglary, criminal mischief and assault as hate crimes after the May 2 attack on the Church of Scientology of New York.
More than 30 teenagers and young adults forced their way through a locked West 46th Street entrance during a service, damaged property, and injured a 30-year-old employee, who was kicked in the leg.
Video showed participants throwing chairs, spraying security cameras and filming the ransacking with professional-style cameras as the group caused about $10,000 in damage, according to the NYPD.
The church said the break-in was a coordinated trespass driven by a viral social media "speed run" trend already seen at Scientology churches in Los Angeles, where intruders try to stay inside and record the stunt.
