A second day of protests unfolded at Fairfield High after videos showed an officer beating 16-year-old Maurice Williams and pulling his hair during Wednesday’s response to a student fight.
Williams’ family said he is recovering from mental and physical trauma and called the force unnecessary, with his mother demanding accountability and justice.
Fairfield police said officers had been responding to a fight among multiple students, but Chief Dan Marshall reassigned the officer involved and ordered an independent outside investigation.
Parents joined students on campus to press for the officer’s firing, while police and the school district began planning a community meeting for next week.
