57 pitches at 100 mph or faster made Jacob Misiorowski the first pitcher in the pitch-tracking era to reach 50 in one game, with 40 of them topping 101 mph.
Monday’s 5-1 win over St. Louis showed why the Brewers right-hander is so hard to hit: he still touched 102 mph in the seventh inning, and nine of his 12 strikeouts came on triple-digit pitches—another era record.
31 1/3 innings in May have produced a 0.29 ERA, 49 strikeouts, 11 hits allowed and six walks, while his last six starts have all featured at least eight strikeouts and no extra-base hits surrendered.
100 strikeouts through 11 starts put Misiorowski on a pace matched most recently by Spencer Strider in 2023, and only Jacob deGrom in 2021 also opened a season with 100-plus strikeouts and 50 or fewer total bases allowed.
Offseason lower-body training helped lift his fastball to a 100.7 mph average over the last month, strengthening his emergence in his second MLB season as a Cy Young contender.
