Arapahoe County reported a resident tested positive for hantavirus after recent rodent exposure, with officials saying the patient is recovering well.
The case is Colorado's second confirmed hantavirus infection this year; officials said the person had not traveled recently and the infection was not linked to the stricken cruise ship MV Hondius.
Earlier this month, a Douglas County resident died after contracting the Sin Nombre strain, which state health officials say is the hantavirus strain most common in Colorado.
Colorado has recorded 132 Sin Nombre hantavirus cases since 1993, including 47 deaths, with most infections occurring in spring and summer and no evidence of person-to-person spread.
