Damien Stewart, 20, was charged with second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of Breanne Keane, 19, and is being held in Tompkins County Jail.
Cayuga Heights police said officers responded around 2 p.m. on May 23 to 709 Triphammer Road, where Keane was found stabbed and later died while being taken to a local trauma center.
Police Chief Jerry Wright identified Stewart as the sole suspect Monday and said the investigation remains ongoing.
Keane was set to graduate from Lehman Alternative Community School in June and planned to attend Tompkins Cortland Community College after studying canine training, according to her father.
