Thekla pinned Kris Statlander at AEW's Double or Nothing in Queens on Sunday, surviving a four-way title match that also included Jamie Hayter and Hikaru Shida.
Early double-teaming left the champion on the back foot, but the match swung when Shida and Statlander turned on each other and Hayter and Shida spilled outside on a failed double clothesline.
One stomp on a dazed Statlander gave Thekla the opening to finish the match and extend the reign she began by beating Statlander for the belt on Dynamite in February.
Six successful defenses now into her title run, Thekla said afterward she is watching the Owen Hart Women's Tournament and backed Triangle of Madness teammate Skye Blue to win it.
