Arlington National Cemetery was the setting for Trump's Memorial Day tribute to 13 U.S. service members killed in the Iran war, which he called Operation Epic Fury.
Seven of the 13 died in the opening wave of Iranian retaliatory attacks across the Middle East, while six Air Force airmen were killed in a KC-135 refueling aircraft crash in western Iraq.
Trump said their deaths helped ensure Iran, which he called the world's top state sponsor of terror, would never obtain a nuclear weapon.
The remarks came during Arlington's annual Memorial Day observance, where Trump also took part in the traditional wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
