  • Paralives has entered Steam early access after a seven-year development cycle that began with Alex Massé’s 2019 reveal and later grew into a full studio project.
  • The first build already includes detailed character creation, extensive house building and decorating, and a single explorable world where Paras can work, form relationships and raise families.
  • The roadmap leaves out weather, seasons and animals for now, but Paralive Studios said those features will arrive within the first two years of early access alongside vehicles, family trees, calendars and town editing.
  • The launch also marks a funding shift: the Patreon that helped support development for years is ending subscriptions, while previously paywalled posts are being opened and the game is selling on Steam at a discounted launch price.
  • The release puts a long-watched indie life sim into direct competition with The Sims, with early coverage highlighting customization tools and quality-of-life features not found in The Sims 4.
With Paralives offering free updates for pets and seasons, is the era of The Sims' pricey expansion packs nearing its end?
As EA monetizes creator content, will Paralives' success prove that true player freedom is the future of gaming?
