Beijing and Islamabad pledged close communication and coordination on Middle East peace after Xi Jinping praised Pakistan’s mediation efforts during talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Beijing.
Sharif told Chinese leaders that Pakistan’s efforts to mediate between Iran and the US were “moving in the right direction,” giving the meeting a concrete diplomatic focus beyond the anniversary symbolism.
Xi said China appreciated Pakistan’s proactive role in promoting peace, while Sharif said Xi’s four-point Middle East plan offered a guiding framework centered on peaceful coexistence, sovereignty and international law.
The meeting at the Great Hall of the People, also attended by Foreign Minister Wang Yi and following Sharif’s talks with Premier Li Qiang, marked 75 years of diplomatic ties and underscored a broader push for regional stability.
